Youth Today: Walking for Equality, March 2009
Queer and ally youth and adults march at LA's first queer high school youth march, Youth Today: Walking for Equality. 2009. Marchers paraded through Chinatown and Olvera Street, ending with a rally at LA City Hall.

Queer and ally youth: There is still time to join our 2010 youth march organizing committee. No experience necessary!

The JFP Experience
JFP & CNOTE are a Rap/Violin duo currently based in Long beach, CA. Partners in real life, JFP and CNOTE have been living and playing together for the past 6 years.  As a rapper JFP released her first album, Exodus, in 2007, prior to taking part in the Homorevolution Tour 2007, the first ever LGBT rap tour, which garnered national media attention fromThe AdvocateRollingStone.com, and Curve Magazine plus Bay Area coverage from East Bay ExpressSF Weekly, and Out Spoken TV.  CNOTE, an accomplished classically-trained violinist, holds two Master of Music degrees and from 2005-2007 had the honor of serving as the Founding Music Director of Peninsula Metropolitan Community Church in San Mateo, CA.  In 2009 JFP & CNOTE released Never Disappear, a song about marriage equality, and continue to donate half of the proceeds to the Courage Campaign. In 2010 they performed on the first ever Trans-Awareness stage at Long Beach Pride, a true honor. Debuting in September JFP will be hosting a LGBT hip hop show called The Future on KBeach Global Radio, Cal State Long Beach's official student-run station. Curently JFP & CNOTE are in the studio recording a few mix tapes set to release in the fall and preparing for their sophmore release in 2011. LEX

Lex is a spoken word artist, educator, and activist dedicated to social justice and creative resistance.  In 2008, Lex began pursuing spoken word and education full time performing, presenting, and teaching dynamic and engaging poems and curriculum designed to address and confront an ever-evolving world.  Lex appears in the film, Shades Of Youth, and is using multimedia and poetry to engage youth and adults in forums and workshops around the U.S.   As a multiracial, transgender artist and activist Lex's work emphasizes the intersection of gender and race.  Lex is actively engaged in spiritual development with the intention of becoming a minister, engaging with spoken word as a spiritual practice and infusing this consciousness into creativity.
